Retirement Clarity Checklist

People generally plan for retirement by using a calculation exercise to find out how much is needed for retirement. However in all probability, we don’t retire in a straight line. For most people, retirement comes in 3 phases. Understanding this concept is an important first step towards setting up your plans correctly.
This retirement clarity test is developed from many practical and real life retirement planning exercises that I’ve done for clients using the 3 phases (“Go-Go”, “Slow-Go” and “No-Go”) concept. It is essentially both a checklist and a planning tool for retirement.
The first and probably most important thing to get right is clarity and this test is all about helping you to make decisions and gain clarity about some of the major decisions you need to make in planning for your future retirement.
This test will help you to discover:
- How your initial retirement years (i.e. “Go-Go”) years will be like
- The type and amount of fixed expenses you will need to maintain during the “Slow-Go” phase
- The 4 major decisions to make and plan for in advance for the “No-Go” phase of retirement
